The greater than and less than symbols are very important maths symbols. Throughout the rest of your education years you will find that these symbols will be used. Therefore it is very important that you know how to use them correctly. 

Remember: These are NOT arrows

< This is the LESS THAN symbol. Anything on the left side of this must be smaller in value than what is on the right.

> This is the GREATER THAN symbol. Anything on the left side of this must be greater in value than what is on the right.
